If water is your thing, Melbourne is only a short drive from the world famous White River, home of record-breaking trout and awesome river rafting opportunities. A few short miles northwest you will find another wonderful trout stream, the North Fork River.
  
And just past that is Lake Norfork, a home to all kinds of water sports, including swimming, boating and water-skiing.
  
Northeast of Melbourne are the quaint stores that make up the Main Street in Hardy, Arkansas, and the great canoeing on the Spring River. Melbourne is sandwiched between some of Arkansas' best canoeing. Passing northeast is the Strawberry River and about 60 miles to the west is the Buffalo National River.
  
On your excursions, you will more than likely spot some of the native wildlife such as the white-tail deer or wild turkey. Melbourne is a great hunting spot, with a number of local campsites available to outdoorsmen.
